It's not unheard of for kickstarters to pledge to their own project, to give it an upward projection or push it over the threshold that allows them to keep the money. The "Scandock" is an example - it's a crappy phone dock where 2 people pledged $15,000 to the lowest funding tier where they didn't even get the product as a reward.
