I'm talking about the beings in John Varley's Gaea trilogy (Titan, Wizard, Demon). They're basically female centaurs with male AND female parts in the usual place for horses, plus male or female genitals between the front legs.

This is the only artwork I've ever seen, by Mik Wilkens that I got from elfwood.com
